5 Star Wrestling Shuts Down
Last week, 5 Star Wrestling, of Williamsport, PA, canceled its show scheduled for August 4, citing low ticket sales. This Monday, 5 Star Wrestling announced, via Facebook, that it will not be running any future shows.
Here’s what was posted on Facebook:
For the better part of sixteen years, I was able to be pro wrestling promoter. I was able to do a lot of cool things and meet some amazing folks along the way.
This past year , I had the honor and privilege to entertain fans in my hometown. What an amazing feeling to see people support your creation. You guys been awesome to me and I am so thankful for that.
I told my self , when I return in June 2023 , if it started to affect my personal life. I would walk away.
As I said this many times over . We are very small mom & pops company as all almost indy companies are.
Without the financial backing of sponsors or training school to provide income to pay for the events. We are force to live & die on our ticket , concession, merchandise sales to try provide enough revenue to keep company a float. Many companies are in the same boat as us.
I have seen promoters literally lose thousands, lost almost everything they have just to be part of wrestling and don’t have the courage to say enough is enough.
I can never get that deep and let it become a financial burden on my life.
Truth is indy wrestling is doesn’t draw enough to be a successful business adventure. , no one making a living being a promoter or wrestler . I don’t care what someone tells you.
I have decided to not to run any future events.
This decision was not based on the cancellation, because cancellation will happen . This decision has been coming for last few months due to it starting to become a financial burden and I could not allow that to happen.
I am sure this maybe disappoint some people and this why I decided to have this long winded text to explain. I never lie to you and will never lie to you .
If the situation would change to where we were able to gave us financial backing from sponsors. Maybe I would revisit things .
I would even consider selling the whole company or it assets . such as our equipment.
I will be forever be grateful for all you!
End of the day, I just a kid from Billtown USA…..
