UPDATE: This post has been deleted from the AAW Facebook page but remains, with a different photograph, on Dino Biello’s page. All of the threatening language remains.
I’ve started posting social media tips for promoting wrestling with my Social Slams series. One future tip was going to be to avoid political posts. A post on Instagram on Friday by Atlantic All-Star Wrestling, a wrestling company in New Jersey, merits me writing something now just focusing on that post.
The post in itself included a picture of Donald Trump and the part of it that is most concerning is below:
What we need now is to get rid of Joe Biden,Kamala Harris,Mayorkas, and the entire unqualified cabinet as none of them have any idea as to what their jobs really are and if we really want our country back we must eliminate Baraak [sic] Obama once and forever as he is the puppett [sic] master.Washington has been bad but the stench that floods the air is beyond what it smells at the current moment .we need to end the way it is heading and we start nov.5th 1 liberal at a time .
This appears to be calling for the “elimination” of former President Barack Obama and the “1 liberal at a time” part appears threatening as well. I have no problem with someone having political viewpoints that I might disagree with and posting them online, however when it crosses the line into threatening I do have a problem, aside from the fact that posting it on the page of your wrestling company could be counterproductive. He did post this same content with a different picture on his personal Facebook page, which is the perfect place for it minus the threats.
One commenter said: This might not be the best thing to post on the Atlantic All-Star Instagram. While they have no issue with people holding political views, suggesting to "eliminate Barack Obama" is extreme, and they would feel the same if it were directed at Donald Trump. They recommend keeping political posts off the company’s Instagram and focusing on wrestling instead, warning that fans have turned on companies for less. The commenter expressed concern because Atlantic All-Star has always treated them well and they don’t want to see the company face backlash.
AAW has been in the news lately after they canceled their remaining shows for 2024 following a double booking at the venue they’ve used for years.
The owner of AAW, Dino Biello, apparently made the Instagram post in question. He has recently posted that some of the health problems he has been going through were partly related to the issue with the venue AAW used in Woodbury, NJ. I truly wish him the best as he deals with his health issues.
Earlier this week he posted about that topic and included these comments:
For those who heard that Atlantic Allstar Wrestling is over it was grossly misleading. The actual truth of matter Is quite simple,I Dino Biello owner, booker and writer had become Ill and while in hospital the leader of American legion post overbooked and lied and claimed he told us he didn't have us on schedule in which was total bullshit as we always had our schedule done a year in advance so what it came back to was we weren't members and we we something they weren't "Sober' so we realized we were getting F_ck_d and after we just donated a 55 inch brand new TV our liaison Al Justice just showed his lack of balls ,in which we got screwed and he gave our date to a birthday party as the man was a member we were not so screw us.Well I will be seeking legal action soon against them for lost revenue and all lost expenses totaling around $7500.00
I know plenty of wrestlers and even company owners who make political comments, without threats, on their pages. It doesn’t matter whether I agree with them or not on their feeds, but when you put it on your wrestling page, especially for an indie wrestling company trying to drum up business, it is a dumb move, regardless of what your views are.
To make threats is even worse, and possibly criminal.
