Colby Corino, the reigning NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion, announced that he underwent emergency surgery this past Thursday for serious neck and back issues. In a post on X, Corino acknowledged the severity of his condition, calling the situation unanticipated and emotionally overwhelming:
“I’m sorry to everyone who has worried about me these past few days. I went to the hospital on Thursday night and was told I needed emergency surgery on my neck and back. I never thought something like this would ever happen. I’m still processing everything, but I will be okay.”
He went on to express uncertainty about his in-ring future, stating:
“I don’t know if I’ll be in a wrestling ring anytime soon, but at this point, I just want to be able to pick up my son again.”
Corino also requested understanding for his limited communication, writing:
“I ask that you respect me and my family’s privacy for now and not taking it personally if I do not get back to you. I appreciate everyone who’s reached out and love you all.”
The surgery marks an abrupt pause in his career. No timeline has been announced regarding his return to competition or recovery prognosis.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to help cover Corino’s medical expenses and support his family during this recovery period. Those wishing to contribute can visit this GoFundMe page.
