“Action” Mike Jackson won another championship Saturday at 76 years old.
Jackson teamed with “Mean Mike” Hellcat to win the vacant Upstate Professional Wrestling Tag Team Championship at UPW Upstate 8 on September 12 at Total Sports Experience in Gates, New York.
Jackson and Hellcat defeated Defiance, Chris Cayden and Maximo Suave, in the first round of the annual tournament. They then defeated The Troublemakers, Canaan Kristopher and Glenn Spectre; Fractured Eclipse, Brian Milliman and NØ1; and American Strong Style, Matt Lawson and Troy Cooper, in the four-team final.
The win also made Jackson and Hellcat the 2026 Upstate 8 tournament winners.
It is Jackson’s second championship win this year. He won the vacant Memphis Wrestling Junior Heritage Championship in a five-way match on July 11. He defended the title against Eli Knox on August 1 before losing it to Zay Washington on August 22.
Jackson has wrestled professionally for more than 50 years and is still competing regularly at 76. He remains known for his ability to walk along the top rope during matches, something he continues to do at an age when most wrestlers have long since retired.
He also wrestled Mance Warner at TNA No Surrender in February and faced Mr. Elegance on TNA Impact in March.
Jackson is the second wrestler in his 70s to win a championship in the region this year. WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas won the Independent Superstars of Professional Wrestling Tri-State Championship at 72 on May 30 in Wallington, New Jersey.
Atlas pinned Anthony of Papi’s House in a tag team match where Anthony’s championship was on the line if he was pinned.
Savio Vega also won a championship in the region last year. Vega defeated Bill Bain to win the 3 Legacies Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship on May 31, 2025, at the Zembo Shrine in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Results from the event are available here.
Jackson and Hellcat had been opponents earlier this year. Hellcat defeated Jackson at UPW Anniversary Anarchy 23 on May 9.
