AEW Lengthy PPVs Draw Internal Criticism
A growing number of people within All Elite Wrestling are reportedly frustrated with the length of the company’s pay-per-view events, according to quotes attributed to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com and circulated by WrestleTalk and NoDQ.com.
In a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Alvarez said he had spoken to several AEW personnel following the company’s latest pay-per-view, Double or Nothing. “Yesterday, I spent the whole day talking to all sorts of people in AEW,” Alvarez said. “With one exception — because if I say 'everybody' then, you know — but it was actually everybody. Every single person was like, 'These shows are too long. We all know it. They should end before midnight on the East Coast.’”
He added that “every single person in the company that I talked to, except Tony [Khan] — because I didn’t talk to him, and of course he doesn’t think they’re too long — every single person there is like, 'They’re too long. He just does it. We can’t stop it. There’s nothing that can be done.’”
Alvarez continued: “Everybody knows it except Tony and a small handful of the sickos that would watch the show if it were nine hours long.”
NoDQ.com cited WrestleTalk.com as the source of the quotes, which come amid renewed discussion about AEW’s increasingly lengthy PPV events. Recent shows such as Double or Nothing have stretched beyond four hours, not including the pre-show, sparking debate among fans and now, reportedly, internal concern.
AEW has not publicly commented on the reports.
