Beast Mortos Joins Growing List of Wrestlers with Law Degrees
Beast Mortos, a regular presence on AEW and Ring of Honor programming and a member of La Facción Ingobernable, has officially passed his bar exams and is on track to become a licensed attorney.
Mortos announced the news earlier this month on social media, posting screenshots of his scores, which included a 9.9 in Civil Procedural Law and an overall average of 8.03. “Officially in a few months I will be a lawyer,” he wrote, adding humorously, “If you don’t want to pay your ex-wife a divorce settlement, call me. I’m still learning to speak, but I can help you, rawwwwwwwrrrrrrr.”
The announcement drew a lighthearted response from AEW’s on-screen legal personality “Smart” Mark Sterling, who polled followers on whether they would prefer to be represented by Mortos or himself.
Mortos joins a small but notable group of professional wrestlers with law degrees or legal experience. David Otunga, a Harvard Law School graduate and former WWE performer, practiced law before and during his wrestling career and remains one of the most well-known examples of the crossover between law and professional wrestling. Independent wrestler Journey Burke, active in the Mid-Atlantic region, is a licensed attorney who has taken time away from practicing law to focus on her wrestling career. David Lawless holds a law degree from Duquesne University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Balancing his legal career and wrestling since 2015, Lawless incorporates his courtroom expertise into his wrestling persona and maintains an active presence in both professions
Since debuting in AEW in 2023, Mortos has become a fixture in the company’s lucha-inspired stable alongside Rush, Dralistico, and Preston Vance.
