MCW Spring Fever took place Friday night in Joppa, MD
Friday night, the second stop of the MCW Pro Wrestling Spring Fever tour came to the R.J. Meyer Arena at Joppa, MD.
Before things got underway, ring announcer Danny Mays announced that The Mecca, Brian Johnson, would not be in action because of a family emergency that he had to deal with - and he also sent out his thoughts and prayers to him and his family. Another announcement pointed out there would be an extra camera at ringside because of a videographer filming footage for a documentary on the 25th Anniversary of MCW and fans at ringside made fools of themselves trying to get on camera as the videographer walked around the ring filming. Keep both of these facts in mind as we continue.
The first match of the evening was between Brandon Scott and Myles Hawkins. After a match that went back and forth and a lot of booing and heckling of Brandon Scott, Myles Hawkins got the pin.
Ykies, Chulo Montana, and Amir Heathen came out on the ramp dragging a referee along with them and after they headed to the ring and started talking about wanting a match, MCW General Manager Phil Stamper appeared and gave them one. It ended up being Adonis Cole of Team Spriggs, who came out and faced them 1-on-3 and destroyed all three of them in a squash match and won by pinfall.
Up next was a triple threat tag team match featuring The Hype (Kaz Lee & Myron Malone) vs. The Outrunners (Truth Magnum & Turbo Floyd) vs. Diego Cruz & Lor Diaz. A triple threat tag team match is pretty chaotic normally and this one was no exception. The Outrunners got the win.
The next match featured Alec Odin, who was originally scheduled to face The Mecca. Clay Jacobs, accompanied by Mary Beth Jacobs, was his new opponent. Odin was getting the best of Jacobs until Mary Beth climbed up on the ring apron to distract Odin. At that point, Ryan Zukko came out to the ring and picked Mary Beth up, and proceeded to carry her out and was chased by Clay. At this point, the videographer who had been ringside since the beginning got into the ring, took off his glasses and wig revealing himself to be Mecca and started beating down Alec Odin. The ref called for the bell at this point. MCW staff and security separated the two and dragged Mecca into the back. Mecca has a history of this kind of thing in the past. After Action Andretti defeated Speedball Mike Bailey in October, Mecca - who had supposedly already left the building - jumped out of the crowd in a dress and a wig as Andretti was addressing the crowd as he left the ring.
The next match was a tag team match between the teams of Matt Cardona & Ken Dixon vs. Tommy Seto & Zakar Shah from the Trade. Seto & Shah got a fair amount of offense in but not enough to overcome the long odds that were against them. Cardona & Dixon got the win.
The next match featured AEW star & former MCW Heavyweight Champion Action Andretti taking on Alex Divine. This match had a lot of acrobatic moves in it and at times Alex Divine was matching Action Andretti move for move. It was quite a display of skill and control and eventually, Andretti got the win. After the match, the pair showed a lot of sportsmanship and deference toward each other and Action Andretti got on the microphone to praise Alex Divine and talk about how happy he was to be back at MCW. Intermission was after this match, and Andretti had an extremely long line of fans waiting to see him at his meet & greet table.
Following intermission, Kekoa came to the ring to find out which member of Team Spriggs he would be facing. Tim Spriggs, Cash Carter, and the Hype came out to the ramp and Spriggs got on the mic and talked about all of his team members who were there as if they were possible opponents for Kekoa. Then, Spriggs said that none of the members of Team Spriggs who were out there would be Kekoa’s opponent - instead it would be the newest member of the team who he then proceeded to introduce. The newest member is Spencer Slade. The match got underway, and Slade, who played college football and is a really big man, was throwing Kekoa around a bit but Kekoa was holding his own against him until the other members of Team Spriggs interfered in the match, including Tim Spriggs himself. After Spriggs’ actions, Slade was able to get the win over the Hawaiian Warrior. Kekoa was already scheduled to face Tim Spriggs Saturday night (tonight) in Hollywood, MD on the next stop of the Spring Fever Tour.
In the next match, Miami Mike Walker (w/Hellfire McGuire) defended his MCW Rage TV Championship against Techno, who was accompanied to the ring by Mur Mur. Techno gave Walker all he could handle for a bit, but eventually, Walker got the upper hand, partly because of his manager’s interference. McGuire ended up in the ring getting physical with Techno as well as all of his usual moves to distract or delay Walker’s opponent. Mur Mur did his best to even the odds and even ended up chasing a fleeing Hellfire McGuire to the back, but Miami Mike got the win in the end.
The next match was also a championship match. MCW Tag Team Champions Dante Caballero & Joe Keys were defending their titles against The Sigma Males - Luke Johnson & Steven Fuerte - who were accompanied to the ring by Sigma in Training Austin Kingsley V. The Sigma Males engaged in hair pulling, trying to use the champions’ belts against them before being stopped by the referee, and using their cigar box as a weapon. Kingsley got involved as well. Despite all of the attempts by the Sigma Males to cheat their way to a win, Joe Keys & Dante Caballero got the win.
The main event match was next and featured Robert Locke defending the MCW Heavyweight Championship against Demarcus Kane, who was accompanied to the ring by Gia Scott. All of the members of The Trade were at ringside supporting Locke, and they would play a major role in the match. Locke’s cheating included Tommy Seto, Zakar Shah, Brandon Scott, & Portia. Scott even tried to use his championship belt on Kane but missed with it. Toward the end of the match, chaos reigned and at one point Gia Scott was beating the hell out of Brandon Scott in the ring. Locke got away with a low blow on Kane, and then proceeded to finish him off for the win. Locke assembled the member of The Trade in the ring after the match preparing to all jump on Demarcus Kane, but Ken Dixon ran in and cleared the ring. Dixon got on the microphone to talk about his match Saturday night in Hollywood, which was scheduled for the winner of this match.
MCW is in action again Saturday night in Hollywood, MD.
