Headbangers MCW Title Reign Lasts One Day
At Saturday night’s Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup event in Joppa, Maryland, The Headbangers (Mosh and Thrasher) defeated Sexy & Blessed (Chulo Montana and Ykies) to become the new MCW Tag Team Champions.
The following night, The Headbangers were scheduled to face Sexy & Blessed in a rematch at MCW’s 28th Anniversary Show. The match was changed to a triple-threat tag team match that also included The Heavenly Assassins (Chris Slade and Alex Divine), who had been the final two competitors in the previous night’s Shane Shamrock Memorial Cup final. The Heavenly Assassins won the match and the championship. After the match, there was chaos as Sexy & Blessed attacked the new champions during an interview, setting up a future feud.
The Headbangers have teamed together since the 1990s and are best known for their run in the World Wrestling Federation. They won the vacant WWF Tag Team Championship at Ground Zero: In Your House in 1997 and later held the NWA World Tag Team Championship. They also became the inaugural MCW Tag Team Champions in 1998.
