John Cena’s final WWE match will take place in the nation’s capital, marking the end of one of professional wrestling’s most successful careers.
WWE confirmed that Cena’s farewell will headline Saturday Night’s Main Event on Dec. 13 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. The show will stream exclusively on Peacock under a new multi-year agreement with NBCUniversal that moves the storied program away from NBC broadcast television for select events.
Cena, 48, was long expected to finish his in-ring career in Boston, where he made his WWE television debut more than two decades ago. But industry reports indicated that negotiations with the city fell apart over cost concerns, clearing the way for Washington to host the card. The decision also gives Peacock a showcase event in a major media market as it takes full control of SNME distribution.
The 16-time world champion will make his final Raw appearance in Boston on Nov. 10 before stepping into the ring one last time in December. WWE has not announced an opponent.
Cena, who has parlayed his wrestling fame into a Hollywood career, has worked a reduced schedule in recent years. His farewell match is expected to be one of WWE’s most watched events of 2025, underscoring both his impact on the industry and the company’s continued pivot from broadcast to streaming.
