UMD Alum Wins TNA Digital Media Championship
A.J. Francis defeated The Laredo Kid on Thursday night’s TNA Impact to become the new TNA Digital Media Champion. Francis, who played football with the Maryland Terrapins in college, is a member of First Class, along with Baltimore native Rich Swann. The pair was aided by another Terps football alum and DC native, Shawne Merriman, who was sitting ringside at an event in April. Additionally, the TNA World Champion is Moose, another Maryland native.
Antony Joseph Francis, born on May 7, 1990, is an American professional wrestler and former American football player. He is currently performing as a freelancer, predominantly for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where he is the current TNA Digital Media Champion. He also makes appearances for Major League Wrestling (MLW) and performs on the independent circuit. Known for his tenure in WWE under the ring name Top Dolla, he was a member of the stable Hit Row. Before his wrestling career, Francis played college football at Maryland and was signed by the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He also played for the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Redskins.
