MB Funk Passes Away at 31
Michael Blake Whitehead, an independent professional wrestler known to fans as MB Funk, has died. He was 31.
WrestleArts in Indianapolis announced Whitehead’s death Sunday and offered condolences to his family and friends, calling him “beloved” and saying he had “such a kind soul.” Additional details, including the cause of death, were not immediately released.
Whitehead was part of the Midwest independent wrestling scene and was known as one-half of the tag team Funk N Fresh with IB Fresh. He also appeared for promotions including Midwest Championship Wrestling and Pro Wrestling King.
Phil Stamper, a wrestler, manager and commentator, remembered Whitehead in a social media post cited by Fightful.
“I’m a bit numb right now,” Stamper wrote. “My friend, Micheal Blake Whitehead aka MB Funk, apparently passed in his sleep last night. It was always great seeing you and see you constantly improve. You have so many people who love you and will miss you.”
