Friday night, MCW Anniversary took place at R.J. Meyer Arena in Joppa, MD as the kickoff to a huge weekend of Maryland pro wrestling.

An introductory video for the event included clip of Robert Locke seemingly recruiting MCW trainees to The Trade. This would be foreshadowing of things to come later. Before things got underway there was a 10-bell salute to C.J. Burney, Jay Briscoe, and Lanny Poffo.

The first match of the night was a match for the MCW Tag Team Championship. Eric Martin and Brandon Scott of The Trade challenged Joe Keys and Dante Caballero, the champions. Portia was ejected from ringside by the referee after her usual attempts to interfere. The champions retained their titles.
Winners: Dante Caballero & Joe Keys.

The next match was a bounty match after Robert Locke placed a bounty on Myles Hawkins following their falling out a month earlier. The Kingpin Demarcus Kane stepped forward to try to claim the bounty. He dominated throughout the match against Hawkins, however, Hawkins got the roll-up for a quick pin. Kane was in shock lying in the middle of the ring after this one. This wouldn’t be Kane’s last appearance at the show.
Winner: Myles Hawkins.

The next match was a women’s match between Christina Marie and Madi Wrenkowski. Christina Marie seemed to be taking charge of the match from the beginning but Wrenkowski never gave up and ended up getting the win.
Winner: Madi Wrenkowski.

The next match included Impact X Division Champion Trey Miguel against Alex Divine in a non-championship match. Alex Divine got in some offense but Trey Miguel won the match pretty easily. They were cordial after the match and after Divine pointed at the X Division belt on the mat, Miguel said “maybe someday” and then business picked up. The Mecca Brian Johnson came to the ring and first attacked Alex Divine and knocked him to the floor at ringside. The Mecca went into the ring and roughed up Trey Miguel and picked up his belt and started taunting him with it. The, Alec Odin ran in and chased The Mecca out of the ring and through the crowd. The Mecca Challenges Trey Miguel tonight at MCW Winter Blast in Hollywood, MD.
Winner: Trey Miguel.

The next match was a tag team match that featured a reunion of The Soldiers of Savagery - Moses and Kaun - against Miami Mike Walker and his manager Hellfire McGuire (apparently making his in-ring debut). Hellfire was in the ring much of the match and isolated from his partner so he took quite the beating from Moses and Kaun. Of course, Mike Walker took a beating as well and was out on the floor lying flat when Hellfire got pinned in the ring. After the match Moses addressed Kaun and talked about their time working together at MCW in the past and then announced that it had been his last match at the R.J. Meyer Arena because he is moving to Georgia. Moses does have a match for the MCW Rage TV Championship against Miami Mike tonight at MCW Winter Blast in Hollywood.
Winners: Moses and Kaun.

At this point there was a 15-minute intermission.

The first match after the intermission featured The Sigma Males against Drolix & Solo. This match was pretty brutal, as evidenced by a social media post made by Steven Fuerte today of a picture of his back after the match, and The Sigma Males escaped with the victory.
Winners: The Sigma Males.

Kekoa faced Mushmaster Tim Spriggs in the next match and Team Spriggs was back at ringside this month with the MMA trophies and belts and champagne. One fan near me even had a sign that said “Cash Carter does my taxes” referring to the member of Team Spriggs. The Mushmaster kept trying submission holds, as is his m.o., and finally got Kekoa to submit and the ref to call for the bell, however, Kekova’s foot was on the rope.
Winner: Tim Spriggs.

In the next match, B3CCA defended her MCW Women’s Championship against Ray Lyn. B3CCA ultimately got the victory.
Winner: B3CCA.

Next up was the main event featuring Robert Locke of The Trade challenging MCW Heavyweight Champion Ken Dixon after Dixon upset his plans at MCW Seasons Beatings. In the introductions to the match, ring announcer Pat Anthony gave Ken Dixon the new nickname of “Big Papa Joppa”.

This match had a lot of moving parts including ref Mike Keener being knocked out (which is a regular thing it seems) and then another ref who came to assist being taken out as well. There was interference by Portia, Eric Martin, and Brandon Scott as well as two of the corner workers from MCW Staff (apparently the trainees recruited by Locke in the video I mentioned before). There were multiple low blows landed on Dixon, including the first one where he no-sold it and pulled an athletic cup out f his pants and proceeded to cover the mouth and nose of the offender member of the Trade who hit him.

Ref Keener was finally revived just in time to make the 3-count giving the victory to the new MCW Heavyweight Champion Robert Locke. After the match, the beatdown of Dixon was on until Locke stopped it and called on Demarcus Kane to come down to the ring and pay off what he owed him (after unsuccessfully claiming the bounty on Myles Hawkins). Kane came to the ring and ended up not going for it and ended up clearing the ring of The Trade and their lackeys before being joined by Gia Scott.

There is an 8-man tag team match tonight at Winter Blast that includes Dixon, Matt Hardy, Dante Caballero, & Joe Keys vs. Robert Locke, Eric Martin, Brandon Scott, & a mystery opponent.
Winner (and new MCW Heavyweight Champion): Robert Locke.

MCW Winter Blast is tonight in Hollywood, MD. The rest of the big Maryland wrestling weekend concludes tomorrow in Westminster and Havre de Grace.
