Last week, Pro Wrestling Illustrated released the latest edition of their prestigious PWI 500 rankings. This list ranks the top 500 singles wrestlers in the world. Several names who should be familiar to readers of DMV Wrestling were included in the rankings. EWA has four wrestlers on the list who wrestle for them and several members of the Goons faction are on the list as well.
#82. Trish Adora
Trish Adora is a native of Washington, DC, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. She currently holds the Pan-Afrikan World Diaspora Wrestling Championship. She is currently in her seventh year of professional wrestling and received her initial training at Team 3D Academy with the Dudleys. According to one online database, she has wrestled in 238 matches, with 46 of them coming in 2023 so far (and 67 in 2022). During her career, Trish Adora has wrestled for AEW, Ring of Honor, New Japan, Game Changer Wrestling, F1ght Club, MCW, CZW, and a long list of other companies. She has said she was inspired by Jacqueline and one biography mentions that she played rugby.
#125. Chris Bey
Chris Bey is a native of Alexandria, VA, and is currently signed with Impact Wrestling. He started his career in 2017 at PCW Ultra after training with Future Stars of Wrestling. While in Impact he has been the X-Division Champion and World Tag Team Champion (along with Ace Austin). Bey also wrestles in New Japan Pro Wrestling and is a member of Bullet Club. Bey also has a career as a musician and recording artist.
#130. L.A. Knight
L.A. Knight, originally from Hagerstown, MD, graduated from North Hagerstown High School. He moved to Cincinnati after high school and trained with Cody Hawk at age twenty. Knight's career includes stints at Heartland Wrestling Association, where he won the HWA Television Championship, and NWA Championship Wrestling from Hollywood, before making his mark in WWE. He later returned to the independent circuit before joining TNA/Impact, becoming both Impact World Champion and Impact Tag Team Champion. In 2019, he signed with NWA as Eli Drake, and in early 2021, he transitioned to WWE's NXT as L.A. Knight, later making his way to the main roster. Notably, in July 2023, he secured victory in the Slim Jim Battle Royal at WWE Summer Slam.
#145 Mark Briscoe
Mark Briscoe is someone who, along with his late brother Jay, has had a huge impact on wrestling in this region. Just listen to my interview with Dustin Tarr for more information on that. Mark is currently signed with ROH and AEW. At ROH, Impact, NJPW, and Noah, Jay and Mark held 19 total titles together. Mark Briscoe was trained by Eddie Valentine, Glen Osbourne & Jim Kettner. Mark and Jay made their debut at Combat Zone Wrestling, where they held the tag team championships twice. He also has wrestled at MCW before, and according to one database has wrestled 881 matches in his career.
#156 Lio Rush
Lio Rush is a native of Prince George’s County, MD who received his initial wrestling training at the MCW Pro Wrestling School. He has wrestled 498 matches since his career began in 2014. He is currently preparing to embark on his fifth tour in Japan. In addition to MCW, he has wrestled for CZW, Ring of Honor, WWE (including NXT), Impact, and New Japan. One of the best matches I’ve seen in person was Rush vs. Rich Swann at a CZW event earlier this year. He also has a career as a musician and recording artist.
#220 Moose
Moose is a native of Seabrook, MD, and a graduate of DeMatha Catholic High School. He played college football at Syracuse and was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons and played for several teams in the NFL from 2006-2012. He started his pro wrestling career in 2012 and has trained with Curtis Hughes, the ROH Wrestling Academy, and Scott D’Amore. Moose has wrestled for Dragon Gate, Global Force, ROH, New Japan, and TNA/Impact. He was named PWI’s Rookie of the Year for 2015.
#234 Rich Swann
Rich Swann is a native of Baltimore, MD. He is currently signed with Impact Wrestling and is currently the CZW World Heavyweight Champion. Swann began his initial training in 2008 with Adam Flash, Darren Wyse, and Ray Alexander before starting training at the CZW Academy with D.J. Hyde, Drew Gulak, Ruckus, and Sabian. In addition to his current CZW championship, he was the WWE Cruiserweight Champion, Impact World Champion, Impact X-Division Champion, Impact Digital Media Champion, and TNA World Champion. Swann also held titles in several other companies.
#256 Action Andretti
Action Andretti announced his signing with AEW late last year during his reign as MCW World Heavyweight Champion. He defeated Chris Jericho in his AEW Dynamite debut. Andretti won the MCW Shamrock Cup in 2021. He is a native of Pennsylvania and started his career in 2019 after training at MCW. He has also wrestled for ROH, GCW, CZW, PPW, SWO, and other companies in the northeast US.
#270 Killian McMurphy
Killian McMurphy is a native of Delaware. He has wrestled extensively in this region at companies including MCW, CZW, PW Vibe, Flying V Fights, SWO, PPW, Voltage, WDWA, and many others. As Phil Stamper discussed in my interview with him, McMurphy’s role in the Goons has been a successful angle across numerous companies. He has held the ECWA Legacy Championship two times. McMurphy has also been the WDWA West Virginia Champion and was part of a tag team championship in both MCW and SWO. He has wrestled 259 matches since 2016.
#277 Eel O’Neal
Eel O’Neal is a native of Baltimore, MD. In this region, he has wrestled at F1ght Club, PW Vibe, EWA, SWO, and Flying V Fights. He is part of a tag team, with Jordan Blade, called Kings of the District. He is also a part of the Goons. He currently holds the Wrestler’s Lab Championship.
#305 Edith Surreal
Edith Surreal wrestled several matches for the now-defunct PW Vibe and has also wrestled for F1ght Club Pro Wrestling and SWO in the past. She is currently the champion of Enjoy Wrestling.
#318 Andino
Andino is currently the Chocolate City Champion at F1ght Club Pro Wrestling. He has been part of a tag team with Saul Esparza at F1ght Club. He also wrestles regularly at EWA in Maryland and defeated #277 Eel O’Neal there earlier this year. Other companies he has wrestled for include SWO and 1CW.
#322 O’Shay Edwards
O’Shay Edwards works a robust independent wrestling schedule and also has worked for ROH and AEW. This year, he has wrestled at Mid-Atlantic Territory Wrestling, 1CW Pro Wrestling, Combat Zone Wrestling, PW Vibe, and Assault Wrestling Alliance all in the DMV region. In the past, he wrestled for VCW and MCW in this region.
#347 Erica Leigh
Erica Leigh is a native of Richmond, VA. In the DMV region, she has wrestled for VCW, PW Vibe, and MCW. She has been the Pro Wrestling Magic Champion, the ECWA Legacy Champion, and the ECWA Unified Heavyweight Champion. She was also recently wrestling as Officer Miller in the not-too-distant past.
#399 Kaun
Kaun wrestled in both MCW and Ring of Honor as part of a tag team with Moses that was known as Sons of Savagery and later Soldiers of Savagery. He wrestled in MCW extensively from 2017-2020 and several times since 2022.
#409 Facade
Facade regularly wrestles at Voltage Wrestling, BREW, and PPW. He has also wrestled for Pay Your Dues Pro Wrestling. He has held a long list of titles in his career including a run as PPW Heavyweight Champion in 2022.
#443 Myles Millenium
Myles Millenium is another member of The Goons. He has been wrestling since 2017. Recently, he has wrestled for 1CW, SWO, FIGHTT Pro, SWO, and F1ght Club. In the past, he has wrestled for DCW and EWA.
#467 Ruthless Lala
Ruthless Lala wrestles regularly for Combat Zone Wrestling in this area. She is currently the Pro Wrestling Magic Women’s Champion.
#468 Chris Wylde
Chris Wylde, a Delaware native, wrestles primarily for 1CW Pro Wrestling and Adrenaline Championship Wrestling now. He has a long list of championships in his career and he currently holds the 1CW Pro Championship.
#473 Bobby Buffet
Bobby Buffett trains at the Monster Factory and wrestles around the region. He was one of the featured wrestlers on season 1 of the Monster Factory show on Apple TV+ which you really need to watch if you haven’t yet. I have seen him wrestle in person and he puts on a great show.
#489 Robb Radke
Robb Radke is another wrestler who has been a member of the Goons. He wrestled a no-rules, no-ring deathmatch earlier this year in DC against Saul Esparza, another Goon. He has also recently wrestled for Voltage, F1ght Club, and PW Vibe.
#490 Saul Esparza
Be sure to watch the deathmatch featuring Saul Esparza vs. Robb Radke I mentioned above. Saul has regularly wrestled for EWA, Voltage, F1ght Club, and PW Vibe in the DMV.
#498 AK Willis
AK Willis is a Baltimore native who regularly wrestles for 1CW and EWA in this region and has previously wrestled for MCW, SWO, and DCW. In January, I saw him defeat Ranchhand Carlson for the 1CW Bulletproof Championship, which he later lost to Myles Millennium. Yes, he is also a Goon and held the SWO Tag Team Championship as part of that faction. He also was the SWO Uprising Champion.
