Jarett Diaz said he pulled out of a Shadow Wrestling Alliance event after repeated delays and what he described as poor communication from the promotion.
Diaz said the show was originally scheduled for Sept. 25 but moved to Sept. 20 with only a few weeks’ notice. He said that change created scheduling problems but that he still intended to appear.
In the days before the event, Diaz said wrestlers questioned whether the show was properly licensed and if a ring would be in place. He said they were assured that a ring would arrive at the venue by 1:30 p.m. the day of the show.
Diaz said he arrived around 4:30 p.m., but no ring was present. He said he was told three different arrival times before deciding at 7:12 p.m. to withdraw. He said the promoter responded, “ok, no problem,” and that the wrestling portion of the event did not start until about 9:30 p.m.
Diaz also alleged retribution from the promotion. He said the company later blocked him on Instagram and that the promoter made derogatory remarks about him and fellow wrestler Matt Awesome.
“I always strive to maintain professionalism and clear communication with any promotion I work with,” Diaz wrote. “While last-minute challenges can happen in wrestling, continuous lack of transparency is something I can’t accept.”
Shadow Wrestling Alliance has not issued a public response.
