This Weekend’s Results

• On Friday night, Xcite Wrestling hosted Friday the 13th in Binghamton, NY. Discover who emerged as the new Xcite Tag Team Champions at this event.

• MCW Pro Wrestling’s Bruiser Strong 2024 took place Saturday in Joppa, MD. Besides the main event, there were several other exciting matches. Check out the results of the other championship bouts on the card.

• Also on Saturday, 1CW Pro Wrestling held “Lines Crossed” in Houston, DE. Find out about the title changes that occurred during this event.

• AXW returned to action in Orwigsburg, PA, on Saturday, where they crowned their inaugural Heritage Champion. Additionally, learn about the main event where O’Shay Edwards defended the AXW Championship against Myles Hawkins.

• Real Shoot Wrestling also crowned new Tag Team Champions on Saturday evening in Mannington, WV.

The Latest News

• As we remembered 9/11 this past week, I wrote a story about WWE superstar Zelina Vega and how she, with the help of her fans and fellow wrestlers, remembers her father, who died that day in the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center.

• This Wednesday, AEW Dynamite comes to the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Several matches have already been announced.

• This Saturday, September 21, Mid-Atlantic Territory Wrestling returns to Fairfax, VA for Wrestling at the J. This event will include qualifying matches for the newly announced MATW Television Title Tournament, which will take place later this fall.

• The National Wrestling Alliance will bring NWA On Tour to the New York City area on September 27-28, with events in Queens and Huntington Station.

• The most recent episode of our podcast dropped this past week and featured Brutal Bob Evans discussing the business of wrestling, including both online and offline marketing. Be sure to check it out if you missed it.

• This past week, Trick Williams was named to the PWI 500, making him the second former University of South Carolina football player to be named to the list. “The Patriot” Del Wilkes was the first.

• On Saturday night in Atlanta, 3 Legacies Wrestling owner Jesus Rodriguez (aka Ricardo Rodriguez) was in the ring at an MLW event and took on Matthew Justice.

• Atlantic All-Star Wrestling canceled its remaining events for 2024, including one this past Saturday in Woodbury, NJ. A news release from the company explained the reason for the decision.

• A new feature, Social Slams, debuted at DMV Wrestling News this past week.

  • This will be a recurring feature providing tips, tricks, and advice to pro wrestlers and wrestling companies on online marketing, whether it be on the web, via email, or social media.

  • The first item on the agenda in Social Slams #1 discusses password management and how companies and wrestlers can protect their brands by doing one simple thing.

Kaun, whose real name is Jasper Kange, is an American professional wrestler currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and its sister promotion Ring of Honor (ROH). Born on March 2, 1990, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he is also known by the ring name Bishop Kaun.

Kaun began his wrestling career in 2017 after training at the Maryland Championship Wrestling (MCW) school under the guidance of trainers R.J. Meyer (The Bruiser) and Joey Mercury. He initially gained recognition in MCW, where he won the MCW Tag Team Championship with Malcolm Moses. In 2018, he debuted in ROH, forming the tag team Soldiers of Savagery with Moses. They later joined Shane Taylor Promotions and won the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.

In 2022, Kaun became part of Tully Blanchard Enterprises, which later transformed into The Embassy under Prince Nana’s leadership. Alongside Toa Liona and Brian Cage, Kaun has been a prominent figure in the ROH tag team division, winning the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship multiple times.

Kaun is known for his powerful in-ring style and has been involved in various high-profile matches in both AEW and ROH. His current tag team, Gates of Agony, with Toa Liona, continues to be a formidable force in the wrestling world.

In late 2023, Kaun and his tag team partner Toa Liona made their debut in New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) by participating in the prestigious World Tag League tournament. This marked a significant milestone in Kaun’s career as it was his first time wrestling in Japan. Their participation in NJPW’s World Tag League helped elevate their status in the international wrestling scene and showcased their skills to a broader audience.

On September 14, 2024, Kaun achieved another milestone by becoming the new MCW Heavyweight Champion, winning the Bruiser Rumble at MCW’s Bruiser Strong 2024 event.
