Former WCW star Buff Bagwell recently underwent a partial leg amputation, a development he confirmed via social media. The procedure was the result of ongoing health issues, and Bagwell is currently in recovery. All of us at DMV Wrestling News send our thoughts and prayers to Marcus "Buff" Bagwell and wish him strength and a full, speedy recovery.
Buff Bagwell, born Marcus Alexander Bagwell, rose to national prominence in the early 1990s as a key figure in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He debuted in WCW in 1991 as a clean-cut babyface and soon became a five-time WCW World Tag Team Champion, teaming with partners such as 2 Cold Scorpio, The Patriot, and Shane Douglas. However, his most well-known partnership came alongside Scott Norton as part of the nWo faction's tag team, Vicious and Delicious.
Bagwell’s career took a dramatic turn in 1997 when he joined the New World Order (nWo), turning heel and adopting the "Buff" persona—complete with sunglasses, a cocky attitude, and a signature strut. His charisma and character work made him one of the standout personalities of WCW’s Monday Nitro era.
Following the collapse of WCW in 2001, Bagwell had a brief and tumultuous stint in WWE, wrestling a single televised match against Booker T on an episode of Raw is War that received poor reviews. Though his WWE tenure ended quickly, Bagwell remained active on the independent circuit for years, making appearances in TNA and various regional promotions.
Despite facing health challenges in recent years, Buff Bagwell remains a familiar name to wrestling fans, remembered for his flashy persona, in-ring charisma, and signature catchphrase: “I’m Buff, and I’m the stuff.”
