Site News

  • Thanks to all of our subscribers for joining our weekly newsletter email list. We are now over the 100 subscriber mark in a niche market of regional pro wrestling news in under three months.

  • And in other site news, our podcast is launching in January 2023. I will have more updates on this news in the weeks to come including a podcast name and possible co-host announcements.

  • You can still become a founding patron of DMV Wrestling and an executive producer of the upcoming podcast. Thanks again to founding patrons Scott English (who is also an Executive Producer) and W. Thomas Smith, Jr.

Wrestlers

  • MCW General Manager Phil Stamper, the self-proclaimed “President of Wrestling”, has added another authority figure role at a wrestling company to his portfolio.

  • MCW Heavyweight Champion Action Andretti is taking on Myles Hawkins at Battleground Championship Wrestling’s A Tribute to the Extreme on December 17 in Philadelphia, PA.

  • Baltimore native Rich Swann wrestled at an Impact Wrestling event in Florida over the weekend.

  • Barry Windham has improved and is out of the ICU. Windham had a massive heart attack 2 Fridays ago on his way to an event in the DMV.

  • This weekend, Lex Luger made a meet and greet appearance in Winchester, VA. Squared Circle Collectibles donated a portion of every combo purchase to support Barry Windham.

  • Were any of you wondering where former MCW and VCW champion Ken Dixon disappeared to in recent months? I did and, after some quick research, I discovered that Dixon was taken away by police during a Norfolk VCW event on October 1 and charged with allegedly assaulting a 12-year old boy who had been heckling him. VCW terminated all ties with Dixon, but I suspect that he might be back to work at some other companies, depending on how his legal situation is resolved.

  • Wrestler Beau Crockett was recently stripped of championships by two indy promotions in the DMV and posted a Facebook apology as a result of accusations made against him by a woman wrestler he was involved in training. Next Up Pro Wrestling put a statement out explaining their move, and Eastern Shore Pro Wrestling also released a statement. Kudos to both promotions for taking swift action.

Indy News

  • Next Up Pro hosted their Fight Before Christmas event in Hampton, VA this weekend. The only announced result so far is that Eel O’Neal is the new Next Up Pro Champion.

  • DCW hosted their Rumble for Glory event in Felton, DE Saturday night.

Media

  • Mike Mooneyham’s weekly column this weekend was part 1 of s series on legendary Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling announcer Bob Caudle, who is 92 now and still lives in Raleigh, NC.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has been holding a World Tag League tournament in recent weeks, which includes a Super Jr. Tag League tournament. Lio Rush is part of the Chaos team, and along with his partner Yoh, he will be wrestling in the Super Jr. Tag League tournament finals this Wednesday against Ace Austin and Chris Bey of the Impact/Bullet Club team.

You can watch the finals in English on NJPW World. Rush has recently returned to wrestling after an injury and has wrestled for MCW and MLW before going on his Japanese tour.
