Indy News
VCW Results: I noted that Logan Easton Laroux successfully defended his VCW Championship against Ken Dixon in Norfolk Saturday night. I later learned that EC3 defeated Gangrel at the same event. Laroux will defend his championship in December in Norfolk.
Wrestlers
Deadman at Living Arts in Philly: The Undertaker brings his one-man show to the Theatre for Living Arts in Philadelphia this Friday night. It’s an appetizer for WWE Extreme Rules the next night at the Wells Fargo Center.
Lio Rush cleared to wrestle again: After an injury that kept him out of action since June, MCW alum Lio Rush announced he was cleared to wrestle. He immediately started announcing new bookings in the days since.
History
Wrestling at the Baltimore Arena: I wrote a lengthy piece on the history of wrestling at The Baltimore Arena, f.k.a. Baltimore Civic Center. There is discussion of the competition between Crockett/NWA/WCW and the WWWF/WWF/WWE through the years and some great match video going back to the 1960s. Thanks to Jonathan V. Last for including it in The Triad last week.
Mulkeymania: Mike Mooneyham wrote Part 1 of a four-part series on the Mulkey Brothers this weekend. I went back in time to discuss their appearances at The Baltimore Arena, how much fans loved them, and included video.
Today in DMV Wrestling History: I discussed some historic matches that took place in the region on September 30 throughout the years - including a man vs. alligator main event.
WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana will be appearing at MCW Autumn Armageddon in Hollywood, Maryland this Saturday (October 8.) The event will take place at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Company Hall at 28401 Three Notch Road (MD-235) in Hollywood. Doors open at 6, bell time for matches is 7:30. Santana, along with Kaun from ROH, will be there for a pre-show meet and greet.
Santana wrestled several times at both The Baltimore Arena and The Capital Centre. In fact, he defeated Greg “The Hammer” Valentine to regain the WWF Intercontinental Championship in Baltimore. The pair had a feud in 1984-1985, including a match where Valentine defeated Santana to take the belt in London, Ontario on September 24, 1984. Santana regained the belt on July 6, 1985 in Baltimore.
Here’s a video premiering later this month featuring Santana and Valentine. I’ll close out The Ringpost with that.
