This Weekend: Meet Gene Snitsky in Harrisburg
Former WWE superstar Gene Snitsky will be available for autographs and photo ops this weekend at the Harrisburg Comic & Pop Con. The event will take place at the PA Farm Show Complex, located at 2300 N Cameron St, Harrisburg, PA. It is scheduled for August 24, 2024, from 10 AM to 6 PM, and August 25, 2024, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Tickets are available online.
Gene Snitsky, whose real name is Eugene Alan Snisky, is an American professional wrestler and actor. He is best known for his time with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Snitsky attended Panther Valley High School, where he played football as a punter, and during his senior year, he was named All-State. He received a full scholarship to the University of Missouri, where he played college football under offensive lineman coach and future Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid. Despite aspirations to play professional football, a shoulder injury during training with the San Diego Chargers ended his NFL dreams.
Snitsky trained with World Xtreme Wrestling (WXW) in Allentown, Pennsylvania, where he competed under the name "Mean" Gene Snitsky. He won the WXW Heavyweight Championship and was later inducted into the WXW Hall of Fame in 2013. Snitsky made his WWE debut on the September 13, 2004, edition of Raw against Kane in a no-disqualification match. His feud with Kane involved a storyline where he accidentally caused Lita to miscarry her unborn baby. He continued wrestling in WWE until 2008 when he was released from his contract.
In addition to wrestling, Snitsky has appeared in various acting roles, including the horror film "100 Acres of Hell." Gene and his wife will be at the convention all weekend. Be sure to catch him at Battlefield Pro Wrestling or at his store, Priority One Surplus.
