Updates: ESPW cancels show; champion reacts
The fallout over body shaming and racist comments made by Eastern Shore Pro Wrestling owner Dennis Wade See continues.
First, ESPW put out this statement:
March 25th is Postponed. All tickets will be accepted at a later show. Ownership is being transferred to Anthony Truono and Billy Bailey. This process will take a few weeks.
At this point our next event will be Clash at Cheriton. Under new ownership. Dennis is no longer with the company. The transition of the paper work will take a few weeks to switch over.
The company will be rebranded under new ownership
I’ll be sure to check the paperwork for the LLC’s registration online with the Commonwealth of Virginia before the Cheriton event since as I noted before, it appeared Dennis is still pulling the strings behind the curtain with his best friend and brother as the new regime.
As far as the cancellation goes - not having a ring to use and not having talent showing up in many cases probably made that a good idea.
Secondly, Ty Awesome was scheduled to defend his Eastern Shore Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship March 25th at Rise Again.
If you do not know who I am, My name is Tyler Hastings and I portray a character by the name Ty Awesome (as well as my personal name) as an independent professional wrestler, who is currently the holder of the ESPW Heavyweight Championship title.
As of this moment - I, the only current champion at ESPW, has had no person from management contact me since the grotesque comments of Dennis Wade See have been released to the public.
Upon reading these comments, I was appalled and disappointed. Savannah has been an exemplary contribution to Indy wrestling in our area and did absolutely nothing to be subjected the way that she was. For that I want to extend an apology to her, for she was the innocent victim who couldn’t defend herself. That is extended also from the talent in the locker room who do acknowledge and respect you as an amazing and wholesome human being.
All of god’s children are created beautiful and are made in his image. To judge and hate on appearance and looks, rather than judge by character and accepting a person for who they are or how they present themselves is elementary, immature, disrespectful, inconsiderate and wrong. Everyone deserves equal chance to make an impression based on their own hard work and merit, which Savanah does at each and every event she is apart of.
I will state the following:
I will not work for any show that Dennis Wade See will be promoting or overseeing.
I recommend the “current” runners of this independent promotion contact me. For I don’t feel comfortable being the flagship for ESPW any longer and I will not represent ESPW after the actions of the former promoter towards any female or any talent involved in wrestling.
If ESPW chooses to continue without Dennis, that’s good on them. However the ESPW name now will have that negative connotation from this.
If Billy Bailey and Anthony Truono plan to run their own organization, not branded as ESPW, and apart from the previous owner : I will consider it when that time approaches - for they have not in any way contributed to Dennis’ actions and have immediately dissolved themselves from him. Billy and Anthony have always given me and the talent in the locker room the upmost respect and I personally hold no resentment toward them for the scenario that was out of their control.
In conclusion, I will not represent an Indy company who’s name was damaged by its creator, especially those who’s actions and words represented bigotry or prejudice.
Anyone who wishes to contact me on anything else may do so through personal contact. If I don’t know you, your opinion is invalid.
Thank you.
Stay tuned for the latest updates.
