Wrestlers Remember Braxx Following Fatal Shooting
The independent wrestling community is mourning the death of Walter Holloway, known to fans as Braxx, after the 31-year-old wrestler was fatally shot in South Philadelphia last week.
According to reports, police believe the shooting may have stemmed from an earlier altercation. The investigation remains ongoing.
Braxx became a familiar name throughout the independent wrestling scene in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware, particularly in hardcore and deathmatch promotions. He worked for organizations including H2O Wrestling and X Brand Wrestling, appearing regularly throughout the region.
Deathmatch veteran Matt Tremont shared a tribute on social media following news of Holloway’s death.
“From day 1 was respectful and super cool and chill,” Tremont wrote. “He was meant to be a dominant hardcore giant in the ring and had a big heart outside of it.”
Tremont also reflected on their friendship outside wrestling.
“I was and always will be a Braxx guy,” he wrote. “He was my guy, a friend and a Deathmatch warrior.”
X Brand Wrestling also released a statement remembering Braxx’s role within the promotion.
“Braxx was here from day one,” the promotion wrote. “He helped build this house with his hands, his heart, and his body.”
The statement concluded, “Rest easy, brother. Day one. Forever.”
Superkrazee Wrestling also posted a memorial message following Holloway’s death.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Walter ‘Braxx’ S. Holloway,” the promotion wrote. “Please say a prayer for this young man. He will truly be missed. Braxx Forever.”
