Part 2 of Mike Mooneyham’s series on legendary Mid-Atlantic Wrestling announcer Bob Caudle was published this weekend.
This week we hear more about studio wrestling tapings in Raleigh that eventually were consolidated in Charlotte by Jim Crockett Promotions. Later, Crockett built a remote truck and started recording at arenas around the region.
This week, we also learn about Caudle working full-time as a legislative assistant for Senator Jesse Helms. He had gotten to know Helms when they both worked at WRAL.
Caudle remembers some of the other announcers he worked with including David Crockett, Johnny Weaver, and Lance Russell.
Why are we heralding someone who openly and actively supported one of the worst racists I Southern political history?
